“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success”. - PM Project Manager.

Teams golf for men in the Ryder Cup and women in the Solheim Cup are always popular events due to the competitive nature of them. LIV Golf has adopted a season long teams’ event to help popularise LIV Golf.
LIV Golf Teams
12 teams of 4 players participate. Seedings are determined by the points gained in each of the 13 tournaments over the season. The Team Championship, played over 4 days, is the last LIV Golf event of the season. Teams compete against each other in a head-to-head match play format. How a team competes against another team is determined by the seedings. On the final day of competition, the last 4 teams will compete by stroke play. The lowest number of team strokes will be declared Team Champion for the year.
The Team Championship
Viewing the event, crowd participation was high, 94,000 attending over 3 days. A festive atmosphere was evident, people were excited, players keen to get started. Music played continuously in the background, not muted, not loud, at a level to keep excitement up. Entertainment and food kept people happy and nourished. TV graphics are colourful, they work well, informing viewers with each team’s progress.
It is a shotgun start. Commentators suggested, if a team member with the highest number of strokes, has a score no worse than par for the course, that team had a real opportunity to win. The four teams competing on the final day were, Legion XIII, Ripper GC, 4Aces GC, and Iron Heads GC. Ripper GC won ‘The Team Championship’ and was led by Australia’s Cameron Smith.
The Future of LIV Golf Teams
There is a future for LIV Golf Teams. Public attendance showed their approval for teams around the course. It has been an interesting feature from the beginning of the tour in 2022. Over time the value of these teams will increase as has been shown in other sports. Possible changes are touted for the 2025 season. Whatever changes are made, a team competition, popular with the players and the public, will continue to be a success.
