USA, this way or that way.

“The roads we take are more important than the goals we announce. Decisions determine destiny.”   Frederick Speakman.

President Donald Trump

Former USA President Barack Obama in his book, A Promised Land, wrote “our democracy seems to be… a crisis rooted in a fundamental contest between two opposing visions of what America is and what it should be.”

Contrasting Characters

After the 2016 elections Barack Obama was courteous in welcoming victor Donald Trump into the White House. The peaceful transition of power was how the batten passed from one President to another, be they Republican or Democrat. When Trump lost the 2019 presidential election to Joe Biden, he did not go peacefully, declaring the results as corrupt and encouraging the proud boys crowd to attack the seat of government

Trump continued his inbred racism with his disrespectful false video of Obama in jail. It is Trump’s default response to denigrate people who he sees as in opposition to him. Obama is respectful and courteous; Trump is a narcissist.

Trump Attacks

Trump will attack anybody to distract attention from himself and the Epstein-related controversies. He and his acolytes accuse former president Joe Biden of all sorts of misdemeanors to distract the public. It’s not working – Trump’s European visit is part of the distraction effort. He also raises the unproven criminal activities of the Clintons to draw attention away from his past association with Epstein.

Trump Authoritarian Behavior

On January 6, 2021, members of the Proud Boys played a key role in the attack on the U.S. Capitol, aiming to disrupt the certification of Biden’s victory. The Proud Boys, a far-right extremist group, were among those mobilized by Trump’s rhetoric. Trump had previously told them to “stand back and stand by” during a 2020 debate, which many interpreted as tacit encouragement.

Trump’s Overt Racism

Some commentators including myself believe that Trump’s obsession with Obama is because Obama is black. Trump is a racist, his actions prove it. When Trump was elected in 2016, I was ambivalent about it all. Not knowing about Trump other than his tv show ‘The Apprentice’. Trump's response to the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, which occurred in August 2017, about seven months into his presidency.

Trump said there were “very fine people on both sides”, referring to both the white nationalist protesters and the counter-protesters. This statement drew widespread criticism for appearing to equate neo-Nazis and white supremacists with those opposing them. The rally itself had been organized by far-right groups protesting the removal of a Confederate statue, and it culminated in the death of a counter-protester, Heather Heyer.

This Way or That Way

By electing Trump for a second term as President, America has chosen this way of lies, half-truths, disinformation and distraction. Trump wants to overturn “The Affordable Care Act” not because it is inadequate, but because it was set up by Obama, a black man. No other reason except for Trump’s narcist character.

The Affordable Care Act is a demonstration of that way by Obama, for the concern he has for the millions of Americans, who do not have the full resources to provide for their own health care.

For now, Americans, not all Americans, have chosen Trump’s way. In future they may choose another way. Decisions determine destiny.
