Do Not Wait for Perfection

“They'll never be a perfect time because you'll never be totally ready.” Omar Itani.
There'll never be a perfect time.
There'll never be a perfect time.

Waiting for the Perfect Life

The belief that when I have the money, I will live the perfect life with confidence and boldness. The problem is the waiting; there is no plan, there is no thought of taking any action. Without a plan, and without the work that goes with it, dreams of the perfect life are nothing more than a pipedream.

There is nothing wrong with dreaming if they are merely daydreams, however if dreams of a better life is the motivation for you to plan and act, you are on the road to making your dreams real.

Procrastination

Procrastination, I am as guilty as the next person, even as I write this blog, I have put it off waiting for the perfect time. As always it is the evening when there are less distractions, there will always be interruptions and distractions, just fewer of them. I have tried the 5am deal, it works sometimes in summer, but for me not in winter, it leaves me with only the early evening to blog.

I agree with Dr. Timothy Pitchell's research, procrastination does not equate with laziness, it is the avoidance of discomfort. I interpret ‘discomfort’ as having to think, to research, to type, to organize material, to try to avoid writer’s block, and hopefully produce something I and others can read. It is discomfort, the reason I delay in acting.

Most people don't waste their lives because they're lazy. They waste their lives because they don't even realize it's happening. They chase the wrong things. They wait for the right moment. They ignore what actually matters. And I know this because I did it. It took me over 30 years to figure this out. Kim Foster M.D.

Summary

People fall into the trap of waiting for the perfect moment to pursue their dreams or take meaningful action, not realizing that this mindset can be paralyzing and ultimately self-defeating. As George Herbert wisely observed, “Do not wait. The time will never be exactly right. Start where you stand and work with whatever tools you have.”

Waiting for too long creates resistance filled with fear, doubt, and laziness, making action harder as time passes.

Waiting for everything to be perfect often leads to endless delays, causing opportunities to slip by unnoticed. Get started and work with whatever you have. The pursuit of perfection in our world is a fruitless endeavor.
